opozycja się nie poddaje, a mimo to Łukaszenka rządzi.
Otpor - ogranizacja powstała w Serbii, która w tymże kraju, a także na Ukrainie i w Gruzji wywołała rewolucyjne zmiany bez rozlewu krwi, tutaj tez nie mogła sobie poradzić - wyniki wyborów i tak były sfałszowane.
Z kolei stosunki polsko - białoruskie wyglądają tak jakby Polska nie mogła pomóc swoim rodakom mieszkającym na Białorusi. Przecież to skandal i zwyczajny brak szacunku wobec tych ludzi!

no cóż...
niedawno otrzymałem wiadomość od koleżanki, która pojechała do rodziny na Białoruś.
Podobno tam wszyscy myślą, jak w Korei Północnej, że prezydent jest bardzo dobry...
dziwi mnie to, bo przecież Białorusini jeżdżą po śiwecie i widzą, że gdzieś indziej jest lepiej.
Nie wiem czym to może byc spowodowane, że biedacy popierają swego prezydenta, a gości z zewnątrz traktują za szpiegów wrogiego imperializmu.
Tym bardziej Polska powinna chronić swoich rodaków w tym kraju.

I hope you can all read English, as I forgot my Polish dictionary today. While currently in Belarus, I find the newspapers to be an anomoly. The word "news" can be deleted altogether and replaced with "soap", "spletni", "stars of our days" "the oligarchy and money" "how our rich live in Russia and America", and etc. All news concerning the world is focused on Putin, and even this is sparce and rare. Perhaps as a non-local I have yet to figure out which papers to read . . . evidently Komesarsanskaja Prav"DA" is not the most informational source for understanding what's going on in the world. For world news, people watch Moscow News on their TV or listen to the radio. . . between the fashion tips and discussions on esthetics, there are reports of the whether throughout the world. Otherwise, Minsk is a very interesting and beautiful city where people are more concerned with the problems of their daily lives then with the surrounding world. Where local politics are concerned, it's best to get in a cab with a rich Russian vocabulary and speak with the cabby. They all have their differing opinions that are loud and clear. I must hand it to Lukashenko though, there are no food shortages in the stores and while slow, the internet does work. . .

the best is that Belarusian people don't want change our situation...
now is good time for change, I think that expensive gas from Russia will goverment force to changes...

From what I can see, Belarus is changing dramatically, but the change is very gradual and difficult to notice at first glance. To a Westerner, the soviet memorabilia stands out too much to notice the growing imrovement. Beuraucracy is rampant here, but I think Belarus will very soon be pushing to improve relations with the West and distance itself from Russia. After Putin's last gas price surge, Lukashenko has finally abandoned the idea of a Russo-Belarussian union. Also, the Belarusian nationalism is impressive. The main language is strongly varying between Russian and Belarusian . . . all the street signs and information is written in Belarusian and as oposed to several years ago, there are quite a few reputable schools taught only in Belarusian. Most tours also waver more towards the historical allegiance with Lithuania and Poland vs. with its historical Soviet partner, Russia. All of the Kosciols have masses in Polish or Belarusian - I've yet to see a Russian mass. The problem is in its dependance on Russia for gas, but I have a feeling that all the Eastern/Central European nations will soon be finding an alternative to Russia. As for whether Belarusian people want to change their situation? I think that the youth that is aware of what's going on wants change. . . the youth that isn't knows that change is impending regardless of whether they want it or not. So maybe there is hope yet . . .
I have managed to find some newspapers though with news, I just don't know where this news comes from. Also, I've been advised to steer clear of the political action here . . . I've gotten into enough problems trying to send out my own art. Wink

So Belarus is going to change and open market for EU or please Russia for survive.
Rather first option cause Lukaszenko is talking with Swiss banks and another western banks about money credit for Russian gas...
but its not so sure that market will be open, it is also possibility that Lukaszenko will oppress own nation for money, or ask Russia in future for credit to pay off western credits...
imho Belarusian is stupid people, in Georgia, Serbia, Ukraine is peaceful change power, but in Belarus change goverment is not possible, cause people don't want that.

Nie wszystko jest tak prosto tam i kiedy bylam w Minskie, rozumialam co jest bardzo duzo progresa w Bialorusie. The students and youth want change! From all of my conversations, they prefer moving towards the West rather than towards the East, but they also want to preserve their own culture and don't want to be like the rest of Europe. There's nothing wrong with this. The EU is imposing a lot of requirements for "civilized modern states" that not everyone agrees with. Belarus has many problems, but lack of desire for change is not one of the problems. The idea that Ukraine and Georgia have a peaceful change of power is quite rediculous as all I see is disappointment and complete loss of faith that anything will change. From speaking with Ukrainian students in L'viv and Ivano-Frankivsk, I see more disappointment than from Belarusian youth in Minsk who know that the current conditions can only move towards inevitable change.

Which people don't create any changes? The youth or the politicians? Unfortunately, the politicians have far too much ability to make things worse at the stroke of a hand while it always seems so difficult for them to make things better. In Belarus, my family tried to convince me that Lukashenko has made things better, and on the surface it seems so. In reality, maybe only the expelled youth knows something. Wink
